Perinatal Mental Health

The perinatal period—from pregnancy through the first year postpartum—is a time of profound change. While it can be joyful, it can also be overwhelming. Often referred to as the 'perfect storm' this period includes changes in biology, hormones, identity, relationships, sleep, routines, grief and loss, trauma, and expectations (of self and others) can deeply impact emotional well-being. You are not alone, and support can make a meaningful difference.

Fertility

Trying to conceive can be an emotional rollercoaster—one filled with hope, grief, uncertainty, and pressure that often feels invisible to others. Whether you are navigating infertility, fertility treatments, pregnancy loss, secondary infertility, or the long wait of “not knowing,” you don’t have to carry this alone.

Fertility challenges can impact every part of your life: your sense of self, your relationships, your body, and your emotional well-being. Many people describe feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or caught between cycles of hope and disappointment. Therapy can provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process these experiences and find steadier ground.

Our fertility-focused therapy supports individuals and couples at all stages of the fertility journey, including:

  • Navigating the system, preparing for appointments

  • Difficulty conceiving or unexplained infertility

  • Planning and processing medical testing and procedures reproductive technologies (IUI, IVF, egg retrieval, embryo transfer)

  • Pregnancy loss, miscarriage, or failed cycles

  • Secondary infertility

  • Anxiety, depression, or trauma related to fertility experiences

  • Identity, relationship, and decision-making stress

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pregnancy and the transition to parenthood can be exciting and overwhelming. It can impact all domains of our lives and also change our relationship with ourselves and with our partners, friends, and families.  For many parents experiencing symptoms of mood or anxiety challenges can come as a surprise and are not talked about as often as other parts of planning for baby.

Symptoms can look different for everyone. You might feel irritable, disconnected, on edge, tearful, guilty, experiencing insomnia, or unlike yourself. If something feels off, that’s reason enough to reach out.

Our therapists have specialized training in perinatal mental health including:

  • Perinatal anxiety (constant worry, intrusive thoughts, panic)

  • Perinatal depression (persistent sadness, numbness, hopelessness)

  • Reproductive trauma

  • Birth-related trauma or PTSD (flashbacks, avoidance, hypervigilance)

  • Adjustment to parenthood (identity shifts, loss of self, role changes)

  • Complicated or high-risk pregnancies

  • Postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)

  • Pregnancy and Postpartum OCD

  • Relationship stress, managing boundaries, and parenting transitions

You Are Not Alone

Struggling does not mean you are failing—it means you are human in a demanding season of life.

Reaching out is a step toward support, connection, clarity, and feeling more like yourself again.

If you’re pregnant, postpartum, trying to conceive, or navigating loss—and you’re finding it hard—you deserve support.
